Fought June 27, 1862. The Gaines' Mill battlefield is a short drive on Virginia Route 156 from Beaver Dam. Much of the original battlefield has been preserved by the National Park Service, and the balance is not too badly encroached by development. It somewhat overlaps the Cold Harbor battlefield park as well
