This photo was taken at Gaines' Mill Battlefield on July 1, 2005. The photo shows the view from behind a Federal cannon looking toward the point where the Texas and Georgia troops broke through the Federal lines. There are National Park Service signs on a loop trail that include the accounts from soldiers at various positions. The frequent signs with the eyewitness accounts are about the size of two postcards and vividly describe what happened along the loop trail. The trail is quite steep as it proceeds down the slope to Boatswain Creek and back up. Foliage is dense and bugs (mosquitoes, horse flies, ticks, etc ) are a real problem on the loop trail
