Whedbee Kirkland and his wife, Susan. Born near Hillsborough, NC and
attended West Point. Colonel of 11th NC (21st NC) at Manassas. Fought
with Jackson in the Valley Campaign. Wounded at First Winchester. Fought
at Gettysburg, assigned to Hoke's division. Surrendered with Johnston in
April 1865 |
