(3-96) Each day during the siege of Vicksburg, Rev. W.W. Lord, rector of the church, held services here.  The church was damaged from Union shelling and the rectory next door was almost destroyed. The rectory was replaced in 1866

    

(3-96) The Lord family took shelter in the basement during the bombardment. It was originally for coal storage and had a dirt floor
