This is another view of the outer ditch
of the old fort. As far as is known, this is the only surviving part of
Tallahassee's Civil War defenses. The fort was never attacked, thanks to
the Confederate victory at Natural Bridge south of Tallahassee on March 6,
1865
This is a view of the southeast corner
of the fort, giving a pretty good idea of the state in which the earthwork
is preserved
This is a view looking across the
interior of the fort from the northwest corner to the southeast corner.
Although at the time of the Civil War, the fort was on the southeastern
edge of town, today it is in a quiet city park in a residential
neighborhood
