(3-93) Site of Grant's Headquarters Corinth
Civil War Self-Guided Tour Guide: Corinth's City Hall (background) was erected on the site of the
Mitchell home which served as headquarters for CSA General Frank Cheatham
and USA Generals, Grant, Buell and Sherman. Later, in the summer of 1862,
Grant moved to Whitfield plantation south of town. The rock wall borders
the Curlee House, headquarters of CSA Generals Braxton Bragg and Earl Van
Dorn and USA General Henry W. Halleck |

Corinth Civil War Self-Guided Tour Guide: This is one of 5 constructed approximately a mile from the railroad intersection in 1862 as an inner line of defense during the siege of Corinth. The Federal army is believed to have used it as a cannon emplacement during the Battle of Corinth |

(3-93) Marker for Beauregard Line. 2006 Shiloh Road. Site Marker: C.S. The earthworks here visible on either side of this road is a part of the outer defensive work thrown up by the Confederate Army in front of Corinth as a protection against the Union advance from Shiloh in April and May, 1862. Corinth Civil War Self-Guided Tour Guide: Constructed by CSA troops in April and May, 1862, this line of breastworks extended from south of Highway 72 north then west to Memphis and Charleston Railroad northwest of Corinth. This 10-mile "coil of clay" was never really tested because the CSA forces evacuated Corinth on May 29 |
(3-93) National Cemetery. Corinth Civil War Self-Guided Tour Guide: In 1866, this cemetery was established by Act of Congress. Remains gathered from battlefields and skirmish sites in Northeast Mississippi and adjacent Tennessee, as well as from scattered camps and hospitals in both states are interred here. The interments represent 273 regiments from 15 states. Three Confederate soldiers are buried near the flag pole. The cemetery is still active |
