View looking along the primary wall of Confederate Fort Harrison. The interpretive markers in the background are at one of three Confederate artillery positions in the fort. The earthwork at right center is a Union traverse, the largest in the fort. It was constructed to protect the defenders in the event of a Confederate attack and shielded them from a daily harassing fire from Confederate guns at Forts Johnson and Gilmer to the north.
